NORTHEAST COLOMBIA

Best of Northeast Colombia

Barichara
Our choice for the most beautiful town in Colombia! Barichara is a charming and quiet town full of cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings. A great place to unwind, it's not a coincidence that Barichara
translates to "place of rest".

Chicamocha Canyon
Chicamocha Canyon is one of the most spectacular natural places in Colombia. Visit the national park to ride the cable car across the canyon, enjoy delicious local cuisine, and cool off in the waterpark.

Girón
Just 15 minutes from Bucaramanga, Girón is a small town of whitewashed homes and cobblestone streets. Spend a day there to get lost admiring the colonial architecture and escape from the bustle of the big city.

San Gil
While visiting Colombia's adventure capital, you can arrange to go white water rafting, rappelling, paragliding, rock climbing, and more. In town, the best attraction is Parque El Gallineral, a small island where you can walk among tall native trees.

Bucaramanga
Colombia's "city of parks" features over 160 different city parks to enjoy. Our favorite is the Parque del Agua, which has paths following channels of water.

Pamplona
It's a bit out of the way, but Pamplona has a nice cool climate and a good collection of small local museums. The drive through the mountains from Bucaramanga is breathtaking.

Cascadas de
Juan Curí
Hike 20 minutes to a spectacular 180m tall waterfall and swim in the plunge pool. For the more adventurous, you can arrange to rappel down the falls.

Hike the Camino Real
to Guane
A relatively easy 9km hike from Barichara, the Camino Real takes you to the sleepy town of Guane. Admire the beautiful whitewashed buildings and colonial church before taking the bus (or hiking!) back to Barichara.

Pescaderito
Hike along a river to a series of natural swimming holes where you can cool off in the refreshing water. It makes for a great half day of fun.
